Polk County enhanced 911 center is a near state of the art facility featuring computer aided dispatch, digital mapping system, and systems capable of locating wireless phone callers, plus GCIC computers.

The center also features a satellite weather warning system which updates warnings and watches every five minutes. Twelve strategically located warning sirens can be activated when needed.

The center operates with three working consoles on two shifts and four consoles on one shift. The center handles 4,000 emergency calls a month plus over 10,000 calls that do not require emergency response.

The center dispatches for Cedartown police and fire departments, Rockmart police and fire departments, Aragon police and fire departments, Polk County EMS , Polk County Police Department plus nine volunteer fire departments.

The center also handles forestry calls, animal control calls and numerous other miscellaneous type calls.
